Aircraft flew into a mountain in cloud 2.5 m SSW of Tonpentre Glamorgan, killing the pilot, Sgt P N Shaw [R.I.P]

04/01/1942 P1683 Lysander TT.11 Operated by No.1 Air Gunnery Schooll/Pembrey.
Force-landed off near Llangennith following oil leak onto Windscreen.
18/01/1942 W8698 Master III Operated by 53 OTU/Llandow.
Aircraft crashed at The Droves Road, Grangetown, Cardiff whilst forced landing due to bad weather
24/01/1942 N3906 Magister Operated by No.615 Sqdn/Fairwood Common.
During transfer from R.A.F Angle to Fairwood Common force landed at Knelston Hall Farm. Successfully took-off to Fairwood Common the following day.
29/01/1942 T3940 Defiant 1 Operated by No.125 Sqdn/R.A.F Fairwood Common.
Aircraft made emergency landing at Hunts Farm/Gower and sustained some damage. Presumably repaired and later successfully flown out.[2nd Aircraft to force land at Farm.

08/02/1942 N1671 Defiant I Operated by No.7 A.G.S/R.A.F Stormy Down. Aircraft was on a turret manipulation exercise and stalled on approach to RAF Stormy Down and spun into the ground, killing one of the two crew.[R.I.P]
10/02/1942 Z4569 Hurricane I Operated by No.7 A.G.S/R.A.F Stormy Down. Aircraft flew into the ground at Kenfig Hill.
12/02/1942 P1719 Lysander TT.III Operated by No.7 A.G.S/R.A.F Stormy Down. Aircraft crashed into sea 12 mile south of Worms Head.
02/03/1942 W3979 Sunderland Operated by 10 Sqdn/Royal Australian Air Force/Pembroke Dock.
Force-landed off St Govan's Had Pembrokeshire.
04/03/1942 R5013 Tiger Moth Unknown unit/R.A.F.
Aircraft crashed during flight at Horton whilst routing Exeter to R.A.E Aberporth.
08/03/1942 L1014 Spitfire F.1 Operated by No.53 O.C.U Sqdn/Fairwood Common.
Aircraft crashed into Skirrid Mountain near Abergavenny.
23/03/1942 X4337 Spitfire F.1 Operated by No.53 O.C.U Sqdn/Fairwood Common.
Aircraft engine failed and forced landing at R.A.F Llandow with under carriage up.

Aircraft ditched near Helwick Lightship near Worms Head.

Aircraft hit by lightning whilst over northern edge of Eppynt range and crashed near Llangammarch Wells.

Aircraft flew into power cables in Cwm Werner valley and crashed.
15/04/1942 Z6253 Blenheim IV Operated by No.1 Air Gunnery School/Pembrey.
Aircraft suffered engine cut and stalled, spun into ground at Tile House Farm, Llangennith.
25/04/1942 3459 5K+DW Junkers JU-88A Operated by IV/KG3 Luftwaffe. Aircraft lost all communications and was intercepted by a RAF Beaufighter 6F X7933. [see 10/10/1942].Crashed on Gwauncester Hill near Builth Wells.
02/05/1942 BL470 Spitfire Vb Operated by 312[Czech] Sqdn/R.A.F Fairwood Common.
Aircraft collided with BL231 whilst on mission. Crashed at Kilvrough Farm/Gower.
02/05/1942 BL231 Spitfire Vb Operated by 312[Czech] Sqdn/R.A.F Fairwood Common.
Aircraft collided with BL470 whilst on mission. Crashed at Furzeland Farm near Lunnon/Gower. Aircraft salvaged but presumed scrapped.
23/05/1942 X4588 Spitfire 1 Operated by 53 O.T.U/R.A.F Llandow.
Aircraft flew into Fan Ddu Brecon Beacons.
24/05/1942 L1218 Blenheim I Operated by No.1 AGS/R.A.F Pembrey.
Aircraft crashed 3 miles east of Pembrey after engine caught fire.
26/05/1942 T3149 Beaufighter V1F Operated by No.125 Sqdn/R.A.F Fairwood Common..
Aircraft suffered two engine fires and crashed near Morris Farm, Sketty.

Aircraft crashed into field near Fairwood Common following collision with second Spitfire.
07/06/1942 V9977 Halifax B.II Operated by Tele-Communications Flying Unit/R.A.F Defford..
Aircraft crashed near Welsh Bicknor near Ross-on Wye after an engine fire.
17/06/1942 R2318 Beaufighter V1F Operated by No.125 Sqdn/R.A.F Fairwood Common..
Aircraft crashed near Linnon Village, Gower after high speed spin.[It was also reported to have been carrying out unauthorised aerobatics].
06/07/1942 R1465Y Wellington B.1C Operated by No.22 OTU/R.A.F Wellesbourne Mountford. Whilst on night training flight aircraft crashed into hill-side at Waun-Rhydd Brecon Beacons.
17/07/1942 N7253Y Wellington B.1C Operated by No.24 Sqdn/R.A.F Kenley. the crew of Hudson I N7253 of 24 Sqn lost control in flight causing the wing to break off and the aircraft to crash at Tyn-y-Bryne Farm, near Llanfair Caereinion.
15/08/1942 P8380 "Black Velvet" Spitfire 1 Operated by 53 O.T.U/R.A.F Llandow.
Aircraft flew into the ground in bad weather at Llwyfnffnan Farm, Glyn-Neath.
19/08/1942 HX482 Wellington B.VIII Operated by 172 Sqdn/R.A.F Chivenor. Whilst on training flight sadly shot down in friendly fire incident with a United States Navy oil tanker near Scarweather Lightship.
17/08/1942 W8695 Master III Operated by No.53 OTU/R.A.F Llandow. Aircraft was damaged beyond repair when a wing hit the ground in a practice forced landing at Marcross.
19/08/1942 HX482 Wellington B.VIII Operated by 172 Sqdn/R.A.F Chivenor. Whilst on training flight sadly shot down in friendly fire incident with a United States Navy oil tanker near Scarweather Lightship.
23/08/1942 BM589Y Spitfire Vb Operated by No.412 (Canadian) Sqdn. Whilst dog fight training aircraft with second aircraft, this aircraft dived into peat Bog at Cefn Bryn, Gower.
29/08/1942 T3039 Beaufighter IIF Operated by 125 Sqdn/R.A.F Fairwood Common. On take off aircraft hit some huts and crashed.
15/09/1942 P9322 PQ-? Spitfire Mk.1 Operated by No.53 O.T.U/R.A.F Llandow..
Aircraft crashed onto the Cardiff Golf Coourse/Llanishen. [R.I.P]

Aircraft crashed into the sea 1 mile from Strumble Head/Pembrokeshire.

Aircraft was abandoned 100 yds North of St.Athan village and crashed.
26/09/1942 BJ697 G Wellington B.3  Operated by No.12 O.T.U/R.A.F Chipping Warden.
Aircraft flew hillside during night
training flight at Fan Hir, Black Mountains
04/10/1942 W8773 + DL570 Master T.3 Operated by 5 RFS/Ternhill.
Both Aircraft became lost and
descended through cloud hitting hillside near Abergwesyn.
10/10/1942 X7933 Beaufighter VIF Operated by No.125 Sqdn/R.A.F Fairwood Common..
Aircraft crashed Great Southgate Farm, Gower after suffering engine failure.
15/10/1942 DD784 Mosquito II Operated by No.19MU/R.A.F St Athan.
Aircraft 
lost its tail recovering from a
dive and crashed at Pen-y-Coedcae, near Pontypridd.

06/11/1942 L1068 Spitfire 1 Operated by 2 FPP.
Aircraft overshot its landing [at R.A.F Pembrey?] on a ferry flight from Exeter and was damaged beyond repair. Later to 3259M.
09/11/1942 P7372 Spitfire IIA Operated by 53 OTU/R.A.F Llandow.
Aircraft collided with Spitfire IIA P8193(landed safely) and crashed near Pontypool.
09/11/1942 P8193 Spitfire IIA Operated by 53 OTU/R.A.F Llandow.
Aircraft collided with Spitfire IIA P7372 (crashed) but landed safely.

14/11/1942 AA426 Defiant 1 Operated by 19MU/St Athan.
Aircraft undershot on landing at St Athan.
18/11/1942 AA632 Defiant 1 Operated by 286 Sqdn.
Aircraft flew into the ground during a practice attack at Llansamlet, 3 miles northeast of Swansea
22/11/1942 P7829 Spitfire I Operated by No.53 OTU/Llandow.
Aircraft dived into ground near St Athan
at Flemingston. [R.I.P]
25/11/1942 X4477 Spitfire I Operated by 53 OTU/Llandow.
Aircraft caught fire during cleaning at RAF Llandow and was destroyed by fire.

26/11/1942 ES947 Warferry GM.1 Operated by R.A.F Northolt.
Aircraft flew into a barrage balloon cable and crashed in the sea near the ASRS Pontoon, Barry Island . This was a Foster-Wickner Wicko light aircraft impressed from G-AFKO.

Aircraft crashed during flight near Horton whilst routing Harrowbeer to Fairwood Common.
04/12/1942 LA253 Spitfire F.21 Operated by C.F.S. Aircraft overturned on take-off at R.A.F Llandow after tail had been raised too early and the propellor had struck the runway.
08/12/1942 N3247 Spitfire 1 Operated by 53 OTU/Llandow.
Aircraft suffered an engine failure and belly landed at Marcross/Vale of Glamorgan.
24/12/1942 EB289 Whitley V Operated by HCGU.
Overshot on landing at R.A.F Stormy Down and damaged beyond repair.
