EVENTS for 23rd February

On 23rd February 1940 Fury II K8227 of 2 FTS suffered an engine cut-out and tipped up in a forced landing at East Aberthaw. This had been allocated 1725M on 17/01/40 and may have been on delivery to St.Athan as a GIA.

On 23rd February 1940 Anson I N5086 of the School of Aircraft Navigation on a navex flew into high ground at Rhosilli Hill in poor visibility.

On 23rd February 1942 Defiant I N3479 of 7 AGS bellylanded at RAF Stormy Down after losing a wheel when it hit a rut on take-off. Subsequently to a GIA as 3000M at 7 Signals School.
