On 15th January 1946 Vengeance II HB504 of 3505 Support Unit crashed at RAF Rhoose. The gasket on one of the engine tappet boxes leaked oil, which sprayed onto the windscreen obscuring the pilots vision, and, at the same time, the engine began to run roughly. The pilot made a tight circuit to land, but due to his poor visibility, the aircraft stalled during the final turn to the runway and crashed.
