On 26th September 1940 Anson I N9890 of 217 Sqn bellylanded on the beach at Rhossili at night after running short of fuel on a flight from Cherbourg.
On 26th September 1942 Defiant I N3494 of 286 Sqn was damaged beyond repair on undershooting a forced landing at Fairwood Common after the engine cut.
