On 22nd July 1947 Vampire F.1 VF302 of 595 Sqn suffered an engine failure on take-off from Pembrey when the impeller broke up. The aircraft crashed straight ahead into sand dunes, turned over and was destroyed by fire.
On 22nd July 1952 Meteor F.4 VT141 of 32MU landed short of the runway at St.Athan causing the undercarriage to collapse. Initially Cat.4R but recat 5C on 14th August 1952 and SoC. This was possibly on a test flight following repairs to Cat.4R damage suffered on 17th Sept 1951 whilst with RAFFC.
On 22nd July 1958 Tiger Moth G-ANEV of Cardiff Aero Club struggled, and finally stalled, taking off in an easterly wind at Pengam Moors. The aircraft crashed on St.Mellons Golf Course killing the pilot and pupil.
