EVENTS for 27th October - 3 pics

On 27th October 1953 Vampire FB.5 VV618 of 208 AFS crashed at Rhymney. The aircraft emerged from cloud and the port drop tank was seen to fall off. After descending and steeply climbing in and out of cloud it finally struck the ground in a shallow dive.

On the night of 26/27th October 2002 very strong winds hit the southern UK causing massive disruption and damage. Cardiff Airport didn't miss out with the following aircraft receiving serious damage: G-BCHK Cessna F.172H, G-BFVF Piper PA-38, G-BWGU Cessna 150F, G-CWFY Cessna 152, G-CWFZ Piper PA-28 and G-OCGA Piper PA-28. Minor damage was sustained by G-BGXB Piper PA-38, G-BRNJ Piper PA-38, G-BSVW Piper PA-38 and G-CWFD Piper PA-38.
