On 23rd August 1942 Spitfire Vb BM589 of 421 Sqn spun into the ground at Broad Pool, near Fairwood Common.
On 23rd August 1943 Whitley V T4339 of 42 OTU dived into the River Severn at Gold Cliffe, Newport during a night training sortie, killing all four on board.
On 23rd August 1945 Meteor F.III EE280 of 245 Sqn collided with EE283 (landed safely) in formation losing its tail and and crashing in the Bristol Channel 3 miles West of Weston-super-Mare.
