EVENTS for 11th March
On 11th March 1953 Meteor F.4 VT304 of 209 AFS RAF Weston Zoyland was lost off the coast near Minehead. RT contact was lost with the aircraft about 20 minutes after take-off, around the same time witnesses at RAF Watchett heard a dull thud and saw an unusual light out to sea. It seems probable that the aircraft crashed into the Bristol Channel killing the pilot, but the cause was never determined.
