On 12th June 1940 Blenheim IV L9172 of 17 OTU stalled in cloud and spun into the ground at Cwm-avon Glamorgan.
On 12th June 1959 Vampire FB.5 VV640 of Ferry Wing crashed in the Bristol Channel off St.Athan killing the pilot. The aircraft, on a flight from Oakington to St.Athan, was making a controlled descent through cloud and sea fog to the Cardiff beacon but contact was lost on the inbound leg and wreckage was subsequently found in the Channel.
