On 2nd October 1943 Lancaster III EE110/PG-W of 619 Sqn/ Woodhall Spa crashed in the Bristol Channel off Llantwit Major on return from a bombing mission to Hagen. Six bodies were recovered at Barry, and the seventh found on the opposite side of the Channel at Portishead.
On 2nd October 1944 Master II DM161 of 11 APC stalled on landing at RAF Fairwood Common causing the undercarriage to collapse resulting in damage beyond repair.
