On 10th October 1941 Spitfire I R6803 of 53 OTU was damaged beyond repair in an accident.
On 10th October 1942 Beaufighter VI X7933 of 125 Sqn suffered an engine cut during camera gun practise causing it to spin into the ground at Pennard, 2 miles South of Fairwood Common.
