25th September 1941 was a hectic day for 53 OTU:
Spitfire I L1054 lost height after take off from Llandow and dived into the ground 1.5 miles southeast of Llantwit Major killing the pilot.
Spitfire I N3166 overshot on landing at Llandow.
Spitfire I X4341 overshot on landing at Llandow with the flaps down onto rough ground and was damaged beyond repair.
