EVENTS for 5th July

On 5th July 1939 Hurricane I L2010 of 11 Group Pool overshot on landing at St.Athan and overturned. Became 1611M.

On 5th July 1941 Hurricane IIA Z2820 of 79 Sqn stalled on landing at Fairwood Common after the engine cut in the circuit on return from a night patrol.

On 5th July 1942 Spitfire IIA P7504 and Spitfire IIB P8592 of 53 OTU collided and crashed at Welsh St.Donats, 2.5 miles Northeast of Cowbridge.

On 5th July 1946 Mosquito VI RF826 of 248 Sqn swung on take-off from St.Athan causing the undercarriage to collapse.
