EVENTS for 23rd April

On 23rd April 1940 Magister I P6364 of RAF St.Athan hit HT cables in poor visibility and crashed 4 miles East of St.Athan.

On 23rd April 1943 Spitfire lIA P7607 of 53 OTU flew into the ground recovering from a dive at Abercerdin School, Hendreforgan, near Gilfach Goch.

On 23rd April 1946 Vengeance IV FD142 of 631 Sqn made a forced landing on a beach in Glamorgan. The supercharger oil seals failed and this in turn led to loss of oil pressure and engine failure.
