EVENTS for 17th April

On 17th April 1942 Spitfire I's X4990 & X4993 of 53 OTU collided on approach to RAF Llandow and crashed.

On 17th April 1943 Blenheim IV L9461 of 1 AGS crash landed on Pembrey beach after its engine failed.

Also on 17th April 1943 Master I T8750 of 53 OTU overshot into a hedge at Llandow after its engine failed on take-off.

On 17th April 1948 Spitfire LF.16 SL675 of 614 Sqn crashed in the Bristol Channel. The a/c was seen to emerge from cloud in a dive and to attempt to level off but struck the water and broke up, killing the pilot.
