During August 1966, the first ever Business Jet visited the airport. On 4th August HS125 Srs.1 G-ASNU of Gregory Air called in whilst routing Luton [EGGW] to Heathrow [EGLL] and it stayed for just over 2 1/2 hours (0930-1200).
From the very low numbers of 4 bizjets in 1966 (3 x HS125, 1 X Learjet) the movement totals gradually increased during the 70’s and 80’s until it has now become unusual not to see one during the 24hrs.
The obvious busy times are at the international sports events etc which have seen large numbers visit as well as political and commercial events which happen daily in the South Wales area.

It works out to have been a grand total of over 1700 different business jets into CWL since 1966.
Operating these have been military jets from 13 different countries – UK/Ireland/France/Germany/Spain/US/Canada/Portugal/Sweden/Czech/Belgium/Italy/Norway.
Civil operations have seen aircraft registered from the following countries call in
