EVENTS for 14th March

On 14th March 1942 Whirlwind I P7004 of 263 Sqn had a tyre burst on take-off from RAF Pembrey. On landing back at Fairwood Common the a/c struck a mound, causing a swing and the undercarriage to collapse.

On the same day, 14th March 1942, and also at Fairwood Common, another Whirlwind I, P7112 of 263 Sqn, was hit by a gust of wind on landing causing a wingtip to hit the ground and the aircraft to overturn.
